Bring Your Own Bag Or Shell Out For Them at the Cash Register Let’s face it. Even an ecofreako like myself who tries hard to bring my own bag to the grocery store is going to space it once in a while. When I was on tour in Ireland, I went grocery shopping. I didn’t know they charged 20 cents a bag for plastic and paper grocery bags. At 20 cents a bag, guess how many folks in Ireland bring their own bags? You guessed correctly: all of them. After I found out they charge for bags, guess how many times I spaced out bringing a bag in Ireland? Yes, Mr. Concerned Ecofreako managed to remember his bags better in Ireland. Moral of the story? Being well meaning is nice. Hit Mr. Ecofreako (or anyone else) in the wallet, and he remembers to bring his reusable grocery bags.
